Dear JustFundraising Member, April showers
bring May flowers and Mother's Day, too. A day to honor all the hard work and love
our mothers give us. When it comes to fundraising, moms are definitely a big part
of helping the team, church or school reach its financial goals. So, a big thank you to
all the moms. Happy Mother's Day! Katherine,

Mother's Day Facts & Top 10 Things Mom Taught Me

Mother's Day Facts
- Mother's Day ranks as the third most popular holiday in the world, after
Christmas and Easter.
- Long ago people in England honored their mothers on a day called "Mothering
Sunday".
- The special flower for the day is a carnation.
- Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948) was the founder of Mother's Day in the United States.
It was her own mother's idea, and Anna carried it out.
- President Wilson proclaimed Mother's Day to be on the second Sunday in May.
- We take this day to honor good mothers everywhere, and to bring families
together.
Top 10 Things Mom Taught Me
- CLEANLINESS. "If you're going to kill each other, do it outside. I just finished
cleaning."
- RELIGION. "You better pray that will come out of the carpet."
- LOGIC. "Because I said so, that's why."
- FORESIGHT. "Make sure you wear clean underwear, in case you're in an accident."
- STAMINA. "You'll sit there until all that spinach is gone."
- WEATHER. "This room of yours looks like a tornado went through it."
- THE CIRCLE OF LIFE. "I brought you into this world, and I can take you out."
- ANTICIPATION. "Just wait until we get home."
- MEDICAL SCIENCE. "If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to
freeze that way."
- WISDOM. "When you get to be my age, you'll understand."
Happy Mother's Day!

End Of Year Gratitude Helps Fundraising Efforts

Once a fundraising campaign is complete, it is important to
thank everyone involved - especially the parents. You might even use the opportunity
to brag a little.
On the last day of the school year, parents of Kennesaw
Elementary School students in Cobb County, Georgia, received a letter listing
more than three dozen enrichment programs, school activities, and classroom
purchases funded by the PTA during the past school year. The letter ended
with a thank-you: "Your participation in the following programs is what makes
us able to provide these enhancements to our children's education." This was
followed by a list of all the fundraising activities conducted throughout the
year; the amount of money each project raised; and the name of the volunteer
responsible for coordinating each project.
Every parent has come to expect the
flood of fundraising materials, especially during the first weeks of school.
Few expect to receive an "annual report" on the last day of school, as was the
case at Kennesaw Elementary. It's a nice opportunity to show-off AND show
appreciation to the families whose support the school will need again next
year.

Dancing To The Sound Of $2,111 Profit!

48 dance students from toddlers to seniors came together for their dance school and
raised $2,111 profit without missing a step. Dance Co. of Northern California, has been
teaching Tap, Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop dance for one and a half years. "The money
went right back into the school to buy ballet bars, flooring and mirrors. All our
supporters are very happy and think the cookie dough we sold them is excellent, much
better than other brands they have bought through other fundraisers. In fact, they
would have bought more if they knew how good it was", stated Director Kathy Feder.
"We loved the fact that we got our profit right away." It will be even easier the
next time round, since they plan to do it again and resell to the same supporters.

A Gift For Mother
Three sons left home, went out on their own and prospered. One day they met up and
discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother.
The first said, "I built a big house for our mother."
The second said, "I sent her a Mercedes with a driver."
The third smiled and said, "I've got you both beat. You
remember how Mom enjoyed reading the Bible? And you know she can't see very well
any more. I sent her a remarkable parrot that recites the entire Bible. It took
elders in the church 12 years to teach him. He's one of a kind. Mama just has to
name the chapter and verse, and the parrot recites it."
Soon thereafter, the mother
sent out her letters of thanks:
"Milton," she wrote one son, "the house you built is
so huge. I live in only one room, but I have to clean the whole house."
"Gerald," she
wrote to another, "I am too old to travel any more. I spend most of the time at home,
so I rarely use the Mercedes. And the driver is so rude!"
"Dearest Donald," she wrote
to her third son, "you have the good sense to know what your mother likes. The chicken
was delicious!"
